Japanese whiskey company Suntory Whiskey has created the most beautifully sculpted ice cubes we’ve ever come across. The project is named “3D on the Rocks”, the level of detail is extraordinary. The Zen Buddhist temple carved in the video below is mindbogglingly stunning.
TBWA\Hakuhodo used an app called Autodesk 123D to capture the 3D images and prepare them for the milling process. The CNC router used for carving the blocks, was cooled to -7 degrees Celsius to prevent the ice from melting.

Miwako Fujiwara of TBWA\Hakuhodo said “A touch of chilled whiskey polishes the surface of the ice and gives a beautiful shine to the sculpture” Each of these mini ice sculptures takes between one and six hours to complete, so we probably won’t be enjoying them in our local bar any time soon.
