  1. Halloween wasn’t started in Ireland (although Samhain may have been) because it’s a Christian festival that was designed to stop recently baptised communing with the dead. The church didn’t like this idea so they created All Hallows Eve (31 Oct) and All Saints Day (1 Nov).

    Not that we do commune with the dead it’s just that we believe Samhain to be one of the two times when the veil between the spirit world and the human world becomes thin and we welcome the spirits of our love ones into our homes – no, it isn’t spooky! And a lot of religions have similar festival.

    PS: White cats are not thought to be unlucky here in the UK but then again neither are black ones! :o)
