Italy: Cruise Ship Stuck off the Tuscan Coastline

The lavishness cruise ship Costa Concordia leans after it ran ashore off Isola del Giglio, off the Tuscan coast. Everything happened really, really fast and we saw the water coming in’, said one passenger, as the Costa Concordia hit ground as Friday dinner was underway. As dawn broke on Saturday morning, the stricken Costa Concordia could be seen close to coast listing at 80 degrees. The crew took ‘a long time’ to launch the lifeboats as the vessel had listed so much. They were among the 3,200 passengers and 1,000 crew on board, the lifeboats were left moored in the dawn light. Pictures by EPA
