There’s a company in Squamish, British Columbia that wants to stop climate change by sucking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, the technique is called Carbon Engineering. A procedure known as Direct Air Capture, uses a combination of large fans and complex chemical processes to remove carbon dioxide from the air. The company is backed by Bill Gates and some of the oil giants including Chevron, BHP, and Occidental. Captured carbon will be used to make synthetic fuels, but also to extract more oil from the ground.
